What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a powerful, time-honored and proven process of helping
to heal and integrate the mind, heart, and soul. It is the practice
of talking things through with an experienced, trusted professional
in the privacy of a confidential relationship. Psychotherapy is based
on the science of psychology as well as the art of understanding through
empathic listening and effective communication.
Psychotherapy is highly individualized. Each psychotherapeutic relationship
is unique and develops at the client's own pace. Dr. Duiven has knowledge
of many therapeutic methods and is able to use them in a flexible
way to meet the individual needs of each client.
Research shows that experienced and well trained therapists can help
people make great improvements in their mental, emotional, interpersonal,
and spiritual lives. It is highly effective in treating anxiety, depression,
personality issues, dysfunctional relationships, and many other problems.
While psychotherapy is practiced by several professional groups, licensed
psychologists are the most highly trained psychotherapists. By a wide
margin, they must receive more formal training and supervised experience
in the practice of psychotherapy than any other professional group. |
